Ownership Dell Factory Transferred to Foxconn

Computer manufacturer Dell, announced that its manufacturing facility in Lodz, Poland transferred to Foxconn electronics companies. After the transition, Dell will be a customer Foxconn, for desktop products, notebooks, servers and storage systems for the customer in Europe region (EMEA).

According to Dell, this shift will help the company become more efficient through the simplification of its global operations. The good news - for workers Dell - Dell employees do not have to be replaced at Foxconn took over ownership of the plant. Dell also retains sales and marketing office in Warsaw.

Intel Larrabee Launch Canceled

Intel has canceled the plan to launch the GPU (graphical processing unit) under the codename 'Larrabee'. The reason of this cancelation is the product which has been developing is less sophisticated than the technology which already in the market.

Intel spokesperson Nick Knupffer, as reported by Techtree, Monday (7 / 12), states if silicon technologies and Software platforms which developed for Larrabee is inappropriate. ATI Radeon HD5000 graphics card product cited as the cause of Intel's plan apart.

Dual GPU in the PCB (print circuit board) used the ATI Radeon 5970 is capable of computing process until 5 teraflop or loating point five trillion operations per second. While the new Larrabee able to 2 teraflop.

Giga-byte to launch M912 netbook

Giga-byte's mini-laptop has an 8.9-inch display that is touch sensitive and can swivel around 180 degrees or fold down and make the laptop into a tablet PC

Giga-byte Technology plans to launch its M912 mini-laptop by the end of July in Taiwan for NT$19,900 ($654), a company representative said Monday.

The device differs from rival netbooks in a key area: Its 8.9-inch display is touch sensitive and can swivel around 180 degrees to show other people what's on the screen or to fold down and make the laptop into a tablet PC. The screen has a resolution of 1,280 by 768 pixels, and an LED (light emitting diode) backlight to save on battery power. The company hopes to have the mini-laptop on the market in Japan and Europe within a month or two of its launch in Taiwan. Pricing will vary depending on the market and component choices. Giga-byte's M912, like rivals such as the Eee PC, has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom microprocessor and will initially be available with Microsoft Windows XP or a Linux OS. The company also plans to market the M912 with the Windows Vista Home Basic OS at a later date.

The M912 will come with 1GB of DRAM, a 160GB hard disk drive, Bluetooth 2.0 wireless data transfer, and the ability to connect to the Internet wirelessly using Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. The device also has a 1.3-megapixel Webcam, an Express Card slot, a wide array of ports, and a four-cell battery able to provide up to 4 hours of power. Initially the M912 will come in two colors, black and Mondrian, a multicolored pattern inspired by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian.

Apple cuts price of flash-drive MacBook Air

Apple has quietly reduced the price of the flash-memory version of the MacBook Air by $500.

Appleinsider tipped us to the new price, which can be found at the online Apple Store. Before today, you would have paid a $999 premium if you wanted a MacBook Air with a solid-state hard drive, but Apple has reduced that premium to $599. It's also now cheaper to upgrade the processor from 1.6GHz to 1.8GHz, $200 instead of $300, on either the flash model or the one with the standard hard drive.

PC companies have been interested in flash memory hard drives for some time, but it's not clear how well they are selling. Using flash memory instead of moving parts to store data improves the reliability of the system; hard drive failures are one of the most common problems experienced by notebook users. But it's still very expensive to choose a flash drive over a regular hard drive, and potential customers might not be able to justify spending that extra $999, or even $599.

Reliability is important, but so is price, and recent news that flash-memory drives are actually a drain on battery life won't help sell them as an upgrade option.

Asustek to launch new Eee PCs with bigger keyboards (Eee PC 904)

Asustek Computer is planning to launch new Eee PC models, the 904 and 905, which have an 8.9-inch panel but use a similar chassis and keyboard as the company's 10.2-inch models, according to sources at channel vendors. The Eee PC 904 and 905 will adopt Atom processors and the major difference between the two and the previous 901 model is that they feature a bigger keyboard. Asustek is still evaluating whether to make changes to the two models' battery and storage capacity.

The company expects the Eee PC 904 ad 905 to come out at a similar price range as the current 900 and 901, and will eventually replace them. Asustek is also considering whether to drop prices for the 900 and 901 to completely clear its inventory or leave them in the market to defend against Acer's Aspire One, noted the sources.

Asus A2E merupakan salah satu notebook yang mengkombinasikan stainless steel dengan kulit untuk digunakan sebagai pembungkus body-nya. Layar yang digunakan notebook ini memiliki ukuran 11.1" dengan resolusi WXGA pada 1366 x 786 piksel menggunakan teknologi backlit LED. Dengan ketebalan diawah 1 ichi, memudahkan notebook ini untuk dislipkan dimana aja, serta dengan berat yang tidak lebih dari 3 lbs memudahkan notebook ini untuk dibawa kemana saja. Memang notebook ini di desain untuk bisa dibawa kemana-mana dengan mudah. ThinkPad X300 merupakan notebook dengan kualitas tinggi. Dimana bagian kasis dalam terbuat dari material serat karbon/serat gelas yang membawa sifat kuat dan ringan.

Mengenai batterai, Lenove memberikan pilihan 3 cell atau 6 cell Lithium-Polymer battery yang akan ditempatkan dibagain bawah depan notebook. Unuk 3-cell battery, notebook dapat bertahan selama 4.3 jam sedangkan untuk 6-cell battery akan bertahan selama 6.5 jam.
